Stamina Fitness JP Pilates Intermediate Workout Video
The "Pilates Method of Body Conditioning" was originally developed in the 1920’s by Joseph H. Pilates to help dancers and professional athletes restore and build muscle tone and strength. Personal Pilates is a method of effortless, low impact body movement, which develops strength, flexibility and endurance. It lengthens and strengthens muscles to create trim, toned, beautiful bodies with improved posture, alignment and balance. The emphasis in Personal Pilates is on the body’s core, where exercises are performed using the abdominal muscles and the lower back to stabilize the body. All exercises promote alignment, lengthening and stabilization of the spine. Correct breathing and relaxation of the neck and shoulders is central to Personal Pilates. The "Pilates Method of Body Conditioning" is different from traditional bodybuilding practices in that it focuses on using the body as a whole, not dividing it into separate parts. It improves balance, control and muscular symmetry. The series of rhythmic exercises promotes elongated and toned muscles, and is noted for toning the abdominal, lower back and hips into the body’s power center. By engaging the abdominals (known as the "powerhouse") with each exercise, your body is retrained to function properly.
